Welcome to Speech @ Prince!
My name is Erin (Ms. R) and I am your speech–language pathologist (aka “Speech Teacher”). I am so happy you stopped by 😊
I am originally from Georgia, but have lived all over the USA! I recently moved to Arizona from California where I worked as an SLP at an elementary and middle school supporting students in preschool through 8th grade. I became a speech-language pathologist (SLP) in 2012, but before that, I spent 10 years in the world of marketing working for companies like Cartoon Network, Delta Airlines, and Princess Cruises. While I had a lot of fun in those 10 years, nothing compares to seeing my students succeed in school!
Defining Moment in My Education
Believe it or not, becoming an SLP or working as an educator was not something I ever considered as a career. However, during my first, off–site graduate clinical rotation, I had the privilege of working at the New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (NMSBVI). The incredible students and educators at NMSBVI forever changed my life, my views on what it means to be a student and educator, and helped me to find my passion.
My Core Educational Belief(s)
- Every student has a voice and deserves to be heard, no matter how soft, loud, bumpy, or non–traditional it may sound or look. It is my responsibility to help them find their voice and use it effectively.
- There is no such thing as a mistake or a failure, only a new opportunity to learn and grow.
