My name is Katherine "Katie" Nelson and I am a board-certified and licensed athletic trainer here at Ironwood Ridge High School. I am also a part of the Career and Technical Education team, teaching Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation! I attended THE University of Arizona and earned a bachelor of science in health sciences with a major in physiology and a minor in psychology. After that, I attended Northern Arizona University and earned a master of science in athletic training and became a board certified athletic trainer. Within my two years in graduate school, I worked in division 1 football, basketball and tennis. I also had the privilege of working as an athletic training intern here at IRHS and I got to know the amazing students and community that Oro Valley has to offer. 

Athletic Trainers are healthcare professionals who specialize in the prevention, recognition, treatment and rehabilitation of sport-related injuries under the supervision of a physician. We require a national board certification and state license to practice in Arizona.
