Welcome to fourth grade!  This is my second year here at Wilson and my 18th year teaching.  I love to watch fourth graders grow so that they are ready for fifth grade and beyond. I want them to know that they can achieve their dreams.  My favorite quote in the classroom is from Norman VIncent Peale “Shoot for the moon.  Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.”

My husband and I are originally from Michigan.  Doug was stationed at MCAS Yuma when we were married and we fell in love with Arizona.  When he left the Marines, we were not ready for the cold Michigan winters so we headed to the Phoenix area where we raised our three sons.  I have taught in the classroom 6th, 5th, 3rd, and 4th grades.  I have also held positions as Library Media Specialist and Interventionist (elementary and middle school).  I am truly grateful for the opportunity to teach here at Wilson.  I strive to learn something new in all areas of life.  My favorite quote for teaching is “Who dares to teach must never cease to learn”. - John Cotton Dana.  I feel inspired every time I read it.

Outside of the classroom, I love to read and travel, especially if it means I get to see friends and family.  

Defining Moment in My Education

Growing up everyone seemed to think that I was going to be a teacher.  I thought they were just saying it because my mom and grandma were teachers.  I found out that teaching and learning are really my passion when I started helping my mom in her classroom and then as a parent in my children’s classrooms.
