Mrs. Jennifer Peterson
Teaching young children is a passion of mine. I started working at a preschool when I was 19 years old and living in Temecula, CA. I enjoyed working with the children and learning from my co-workers. I decided that I would pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education. My husband and I moved to Dallas, TX where I continued my work experience and education. We moved to Tucson after our daughter was born to be closer to our families. This is where my husband and I have raised our family, with all 4 children attending schools within the Amphitheater School District. In 2023, our youngest child will graduate from Canyon Del Oro!
I have been able to grow professionally while working in the Amphitheater School District. While working as a Special Education caregiver at Mesa Verde Elementary, I returned to college to earn a degree in Special Education. I taught as a Special Education Resource teacher and thoroughly enjoyed working with the kids at Mesa Verde. In 2021, I was offered the position of Special Education Preschool Teacher at Donaldson Elementary School. This is an opportunity for me to work and learn alongside young children again. I am excited to be teaching the youngest learners at school. I appreciate their curiosity, creativity, and confidence.
My teaching philosophy is best said by Mr. Fred Rogers, “Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning”.
