Mr. Colby Tapling
Hello Everyone! Thanks for visiting my website!
Welcome to the 2023/2024 school year. I am very excited to be in my new role as the Curriculum, Instruction, and Intervention Support Specialist (CIISS)!
My goal as an educator in any role is to have students foster a sense of independence, create a welcoming environment for all, and create lifelong learners for all students and staff members. We want students to be able to grow within their current skills, but also be challenged in order to learn even more skills, in all areas, before the end of the year.
A bit about me:
-I grew up in Chicago, Illinois.
-This is my first year at Holaway, but my 10th year overall teaching. I have previously taught 4th grade, an Emotional/Behavioral Exceptional Classroom, a Life Skills Classroom and in a Cross Categorical 3-5 classroom. .
-I moved out to Tucson in June of 2022 with my wife and dog! We moved to be closer to our family.
-I enjoy being outside in my free time. I try to be as active as possible through running, walking, bike riding, and going to the gym.
-I have enjoyed finding new places to eat at, visit, and explore while being in Tucson and Arizona. If you have any suggestions, please let me know!
-I am always looking for ways to incorporate the best practices within my classroom, and working with other educators, parents and staff to create the best classroom possible.
-I look forward to working with my students and parents, as a team, to help create the best plan for each child!
Defining Moment in Education
I have always enjoyed being in an educational setting. When I was a freshman in high school, I had a teacher who was impactful on me and set me straight to be on the path to success. This inspired me to want to be a teacher and help advocate for students to achieve the most that they can!
Core Educational Beliefs
I believe that all students are able to learn while utilizing the appropriate tools to meet their needs. I believe in creating a safe and supportive learning environment in order for all students to strive and feel comfortable within their school setting.
