Defining Moment in My Education

As a young student in first grade, I had a dedicated and compassionate teacher who made time know me to better teach me in the best way that I could learn.  As the years passed, I appreciated the time that teacher gave to help me learn.  As a graduate student at the University of Arizona while studying Journalism, I worked with Kindergarten and 1st graders at a magnet school which was where I discovered a passion for helping, teaching and getting to know young children to teach them.  It was then that I decided to pursue a degree in Elementary Education.

Core Educational Beliefs

I hear and I forget

I see and I remember

I do and I understand

-Confucius

In teaching young learners, all children learn from using language, asking, seeing and doing.  In Kindergarten, activities are taught, practiced, practiced together and practiced in small groups or individually.

Prior Experiences

I have taught all of my teaching years, 26,  in the Amphitheater School District.  During this time, I have taught 1st grade, 2nd grade and currently Kindergarten. It was through teaching 1st and 2nd grades that I developed best practices that I implement and develop at the beginning of a child's learning, in Kindergarten.
