Mrs. Alison Knight

What I am committed to providing Holaway Elementary School students, parents and staff:

In my class, I believe every student will learn, as well as have the ability, and opportunity, to learn. I am strive to be a forever learner, continuiously reviewing and researching standards, skills, and techniques, in order to become a powerful teacher in our community. I am committed to each and every one of my students and their families, and will work to the best of my abilities to help them grow. I am committed to providing a supportive and flexible learning environment…as we all know, education is not a one size fits all profession. I am committed to my colleagues by continuously reminding myself of perception…being aware of myself and others by taking the balcony view when we are having a discussion or dialogue, and simply in our day to day lives, in order to unite as a courageous Holaway Family. Together, we will continue our commitment to our families and our children to bring them quality education and a forever home away from home.

Three things I am working on this school year are:

I would like to continue working to be a compassionate and professional colleague. I will strive to constantly remind myself of a compassionate and, at times, detached, perspective for my students, their families, and my colleagues. We are all here for the same wonderful reason…for these beautiful young citizens of the future.

Patience is virtue I, as an only child, lack sometimes. I want to give myself the time to learn new things without the pressure to do it NOW, as well as give others the chance to do the same thing.( I am far more impatient with myself, and need to realize I can’t do it all, all the time)

Timeliness and organization have always been an area I show weakness. This year, I want to remain vigilant to the schedule and become positive role model for my students, as well as show respect to the schedules of my partners.

Things I enjoying outside of school are:

This year I have the amazing opportunity to cross something off of my bucket list- I will be hiking the Incan Trail with my best friend, Ms. Smith. I enjoy hiking, being outdoors, playing with my fur babies, and enjoying a good laugh with amazing people.

A quote that to live by:

“There are three things to remember when teaching: know your stuff; know whom you are stuffing; and then stuff them elegantly.” ~ Lola May
