Mrs. Renee Lustenberger
My passion for education runs deep as I am rooted in a family of educators. My mom served as an assistant superintendent for many years and my (belated) father dedicated over 30 years of his life to teaching high school algebra and geometry in addition to coaching golf. Both my sister and brother in law are educators as well; a school counselor and middle school teacher, respectively.
Early in my career, I had the privilege of tutoring children in foster care. I later worked in the San Diego Juvenile Court system as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), advocating on the behalf of abused and neglected children. Concurrently, I assisted students with special needs in a non-categorical, preschool classroom within San Diego Unified Schools. These experiences worked in unison to solidify my desire to pursue a life-long career working with children.
As a result, it became evident to me that pursuing a career as a classroom teacher was a way I could incorporate my background in Psychology with my passion for education and desire to work with children. My career as a teacher is the intersection of my professional pursuits and desires.
All children can learn. Given the proper support and guidance from parents and teachers, all students are capable of achieving great things. This team provides the support network needed to encourage healthy, well adjusted, kind human beings who will have the foundation for future successes. Diversity in schools help to enhance the educational environment by fostering tolerance, acceptance and awareness while reducing incidences of bullying, racism, classism and other types of discrimination. Through opportunities to collaborate and engage with one another, students will learn to work synergistically and in turn be ready for success in the 21st century workplace.
