Mrs. Lisa Boyd

Welcome!

Thank you for visiting my web page. I was born in Tucson, and grew up in San Manuel. I currently live in Oracle and have a wonderful husband named Wade. Together we have raised six children, five who are grown and out of the house.  For fun I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my grandkids, and reading a good book.  I love teaching and am certain there is no better job in the world.

Defining Moment in Education

A few years ago, during a meeting with an administrator, it was suggested to me that the next step in my career might be pursuing National Board Certification.  Going into the process, I thought that this would just be another part of my professional development and would not truly make a difference in what I do in the classroom.  However, what I found was that the process of analyzing the relevance of what I was doing, and reflecting on whether or not everything I do in my class is in the best interest of my students, totally changed the way I taught.  Today I am a completely different teacher whose priority is my student's individual needs.

Core Educational Belief

My greatest belief in education is that all students deserve the opportunity to learn in a safe and caring environment.  It is my job to provide my students the opportunity to reach their fullest potential by meeting them at their individual level, and providing them opportunities they need to get there.

Prior Experience

I started teaching in 1999 at Prince Elementary School in Amphitheater School District.  I was there for 4 years, teaching one year in 1st grade and the rest in 2nd.  Since then, I have taught 2nd grade at Coronado K-8 School.

Professional Accomplishments

My greatest professional accomplishment was becoming a National Board Certified Teacher in 2012.
