Ms. Allison Coleman

Welcome to Ms. Coleman's first grade class!  I graduated from the University of Arizona and have been teaching first grade for 20 years, all here at Coronado!  I am originally from New York, and moved to Tucson 26 years ago.  Some of my hobbies include traveling, cooking, spending time with friends and family, and cheering on the Wildcats!

Defining Moment in Education

Even as a child, I knew I wanted to be a teacher.  However, while in high school, I attended a 3-day workshop at the University of Arizona for prospective elementary education majors.  After staying on campus, taking classes and workshops, creating lessons, and working with children, I knew teaching was a passion I couldn't wait to pursue.

Core Educational Beliefs

I believe in instilling a life-long love of learning, building kindness and compassion, and challenging and encouraging all students to be the best they can be.

Prior Experience

Prior to teaching first grade at Coronado, I student-taught in the Marana School District in kindergarten.  I also spent many years volunteering in various classrooms around Tucson, at Casa de los Ninos, and at a summer day-camp.

Professional Accomplishments

I have served on many committees in the Amphitheater District over the years including a report card committee, and a textbook adoption committee.  I have served as a judge at the regional Odyssey of the Mind competition.
