Core Educational Beliefs
Everyone is capable of learning if their mind is willing.
I was a student of Vail School District for my entire educational career. Previously, I have volunteered, shadowed, and/or student taught in Sunnyside Unified School, Marana Unified School District, and Flowing Wells Unified School District. My entire teaching career has been with Amphitheater Public Schools.
Defining Moment in My Education
As a sophomore at the University of Arizona seeking a degree in nursing, I had the opportunity to travel to Honduras and work at a government-run orphanage. During my time in Honduras, I worked with an 18 year old boy with severe special needs. He had been abandoned, kicked out from the local special needs school, and treated with great disrespect by the other boys in the orphanage as well as the staff. While in Honduras, my goal was to engage with this young man and tap into his true potential. Within a weeks time, this young man's interaction with me and mildly improved behavior had inspired the other young boys and staff workers to see a human being behind a disability. My experience in Honduras helped me realize that there is a great need in the world for people with disabilities to be heard and understood.
Thank you for allowing me to help your child grow and learn!
