Welcome to my fifth grade class! I am Liesl Scheffel, and I have been teaching since 1998 - all at Coronado. I have taught 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. I have a daughter who attends Coronado. In my free time, I like to read and spend time with my family.
Defining Moment in Education: As I was growing up, I always wanted to be a marine biologist. After attending the University of Arizona with a major in biology, I went to work at the Catalina Island Marine Institute in California. Here I was teaching groups of schoolchildren about marine biology. I fell in love with teaching and knew I needed to make a career change. I've been a classroom teacher ever since.
Core Educational Belief: I believe in challenging all students to help them learn and grow.
Prior Experience: Before teaching at Coronado, I taught in Environmental Education facilities for five years in different parts of California. It was this experience that led me to classroom teaching.
