Mrs. Tricia Stewart
Welcome!
This year I am excited about beginning my 21st year of teaching. This is my 9th year at Coronado. I love teaching here because we have the best students and families. My husband teaches 4th grade at Coronado as well. My son and daughter attended Coronado for both elementary and middle school. They are now at CDO. We have three cats and a dog. We are a family that truly enjoys our time together. We love to play games, go swimming, hiking and watch movies. We also love to go camping as often as we can; to state parks, the beach and the mountains. In my free time, I enjoy reading, scrapbooking, trying out a new craft or going for a nice long walk.
Defining Moment in Education
My defining moment is not a single moment but many moments in my career, when students make more than expected growth, a class that is collaborative and enthusiastic about their learning, a kind note from a parent expressing appreciation or a meeting with a colleague that helps to push me to the next level in my teaching. It is all of these moments together that inspire me and remind me that I am exactly where I am meant to be.I truly love being a teacher.
Core Educational Belief
I strive to be the teacher that I want my own children to have. A classroom should be a place where a child is respected, challenged, encouraged and supported. A place where they learn to love learning and are inspired to be their best.
Prior Experience
I have taught all 20 years at Amphitheater School District. I began my career at Holaway Elementary. There I taught Cross Categorical Special Education, a K/1 class, Second grade, but most of the years in First grade. Then I taught 2 years of first grade at Mesa Verde. I was thrilled to be hired at Coronado in 2013. I have taught several multiage classes and, third grade, which I love the most!
