Degrees and Certifications:

B.A. Mathematics and Secondary Education, University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN

Mrs. Erica Fox

Welcome to my classroom website page and thank you for stopping by.  This is my eleventh year teaching at Canyon del Oro High School.  This year I am teaching AP Calculus and Intermediate Algebra.

Defining Moment in Education:
Throughout high school I was lucky enough to have teachers that challenged and supported me through the years.  They were mentors, coaches, educators, and cheerleaders.  They helped mold me into the person I am today.

Core Educational Belief:
It is my number one priority to keep students safe, and to help them learn.  I believe every student is capable of loving math, but they don't have to.  Teaching and learning mathematics is so much more than algebra, geometry, and numbers.  It teaches you the life-long skills of perseverance, applying current knowledge to an unknown problem or situation, and critical thinking.  Not only do I want students to increase their mathematical skills, I want them to learn to ask qood questions and  instill a sense of curiosity into students.  Every day in class I want students to learn, grow, and feel safe.

Prior Experience:
After finishing my Bachelor's degree at the University of St. Thomas with a co-major in Secondary Education and Mathematics, I began teaching in Minneapolis, Minnesota at an International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program middle school.  In April 2013, my husband decided to pursue his doctorate degree in pure mathematics at the University of Arizona. We moved to Tucson and I began teaching at Canyon del Oro High School.  I love the community at CDO and all of the opportunities for students here.  Plus, the school colors are green and gold (Go Pack Go)!

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children.  We like to go for walks, explore, and play tons of board games.  I love to try new workouts, read, cook, and craft.  I look forward to getting to know students throughout the school year.
