Mr. Dan Glor
I have lived in Tucson since 2004. As a graduate of Scottsdale Culinary Institute, I have worked in restaurants, from fast food to fine dining, hotels and institutional food service for 17 years. Now, I am passing on practical knowledge to students at Canyon del Oro through the culinary program. My core educational belief is that food can be healthy AND delicious. Students will also learn the basics of safe food handling and storage, prevention of accidents and overall self-sufficiency in the kitchen. Students will also learn to build a skill set to use in life and as a potential career.
I have been teaching at Canyon del Oro since 2012. Since then, students have had opportunities to cater various functions in different styles, from plated to buffet. It is incredibly satisfying to see students successfully run an event. I am a sponsor of the Catering Club and I participate in AZ FCCLA with a leadership conference in the fall. FCCLA also hosts culinary competitive events in the spring where club members compete in various events such as Knife Skills, Salad Preparation, and Team Event. I try to keep a fun and engaging atmosphere with an emphasis on safety and sanitation.
