Graduated from Scottsdale Culinary Institute Le Cordon Bleu

Mr. Meitner

I grew up around the Madison, Wisconsin area.  My wife and I moved to Arizona so I could attend Scottsdale Culinary Institute and she could claim residency to attend the U of A.  We lived in Scottsdale for a few years and are glad we moved to the Tucson area. I enjoy spending my free time cooking meals for my wife and kids, Scarlett and Jameson.  I also enjoy cheering for the local sports teams: Arizona Cardinals, Arizona Diamondbacks, Phoenix Suns, and, of course, the U of A!

I have been working for the Amphitheater School District for over ten years. I was originally hired as a Restaurant Supervisor and held that position for two years. During that time, I was responsible for starting and overseeing the first student-run restaurant at the high school level, The Dorado Bistro. I trained students on how to operate all the aspects of a successful restaurant, including front-of-the-house and back-of-the-house. I then moved into a full-time teaching position and have found that teaching students the skills needed to be a successful chef is truly rewarding.  I always enjoy seeing former students being successful in the food service industry.

I believe that learning is demonstrated when learners can apply their understandings in new situations in flexible and thought-provoking ways.
