• I am proud to be the principal of Wilson K-8.  I am grateful to serve the students, families, and staff in this wonderful community.

I am also a proud Arizona Wildcat, having attended the University of Arizona for my undergraduate studies and Northern Arizona University for my Master's program.

    Defining Moment in Education

At an early age, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher.  I had the privilege of teaching for fifteen years and now, as I reflect back on my career as a teacher, I believe that I may have learned far more from my students than they ever learned from me.  I formed lifelong relationships, and if a student was in my care, they became my student for life.  Also, I learned that building a strong classroom community where learning is exciting and each student is loved, engaged, and empowered is critical to achieving academic excellence.

    Core Educational Beliefs

I believe in the power of education to transform lives.  I believe that education is THE ANSWER and that it can rid our world of so many ills, like poverty, hatred, apathy, and violence.  I believe that learning is a choice and that whether or not you are a young person or a grown adult, choosing to be a learner is a life-long commitment to becoming a better version of yourself.  I believe that all students deserve an incredible school experience.  I believe that school should be a joyful place and students should be given personalized learning opportunities to meet their individual needs in order to reach their fullest potential.  I believe that student success is ALL of our responsibility.

    Prior Experience

My heart is in K-8 education.  Prior to becoming a principal, I was a middle school teacher at Booth-Fickett K-8 Math Science Magnet School and Wilson K-8.  After leaving the classroom, I became an assistant principal at Coronado K-8 and then the principal of La Cima Middle School.  I'm proud to say that I have dedicated more than thirty years to public education and I look forward to another great year!
