Amphitheater Public School District families are invited to attend a free literacy and resource event on May 3 from 9 a.m. to Noon at the ECHO Family Resource Center, 435 E. Glenn St.

The Story Time Party will feature live storytelling, a character meet & greet, arts and crafts, free books, face-painting and snacks, preschool and kindergarten registration and resources from community partners.

The District will provide free backpacks to incoming preschoolers and kindergarteners to help them get excited about learning and attending school. The backpacks include:

• Three early literacy books
• A math activity journal
• A phonics activity journal
• An activity calendar with age-appropriate activities for every day this summer for students. This is in English and Spanish.
• An information flyer on what to expect in kindergarten
• A letter from the Amphitheater Superintendent welcoming families to the District
• Pencils, Crayons, Dry Erase Board with Marker, Pencil Sharpener, Scissor and Erasers

The event is a partnership between the district, the Amphi Foundation and United Way and will feature additional resources from partners including:

• Free Immunization Clinic
• Pima County Mobile Health Clinic
• Sports physicals for $20
• Community Food Bank with Food Pantry Resources
• Woods Library, with free books
• Diaper Bank, with free diapers and hygiene products
• Literacy Connects offering sign-ups for adult learners for GED and English as a Second Language Classes
• Make Way for Books Storytime and sign up
• Amphi Foundation, with free clothing and socks
