Amphitheater Public Schools is proud to announce that The Innovation Academy has earned STEM school certification from Cognia, a national accreditation organization formerly known as AdvancEd.

Innovation Academy is the only school in Southern Arizona to have earned the certification. Eleven schools in Arizona and 144 in the nation have been awarded the distinction.

“I am exceedingly proud of the Innovation Academy staff, students and community,” said Michael McConnell, the school’s principal.  “Achieving this certification in our third year is truly a testament to the commitment of our school community.  I am both humbled and elated to join the other 143 Cognia-STEM certified schools in the United States.”

Cognia evaluates schools on 11 standards that examine the quality, rigor and substance of schools’ STEM education programs. The organization considers the certification a mark of STEM distinction and excellence.
