First Grade Art

Continuous Line

First graders learned about making continuous lines and all the fun shapes that can be created by them! We learned about cityscapes and how we could create our own. Students began by using shapes that they cut out of construction paper and then they added a continuous line for detail! The book Follow the Line by Laura Ljungkvist was our inspiration.

Lady Liberty Portraits

First graders practiced their portraiture skills. They began with guidelines and then applied the elements of proportion. First graders began with a pencil sketch and then they outlined with black markers. To add color they practiced their watercolor painting skills, using wet media paper was key!
