3D (Data-Driven Differentiation) Academy |
Three keys training areas have been identified to help teachers meet the needs of all students. The three areas are Planning and Assessment, Content Area Learning Strategies, and Differentiated Instruction. Teachers in this academy use data and learning strategies to help them differentiate their instruction. Geometry Academy |
| The Geometry Academy is a professional development opportunity to provide participants with a deep understanding of geometric concepts as well as effective instructional strategies. The Geometry Academy focuses on the Process Standards – Connections, Problem Solving, Communication, Reason and Proof, and Representation. The Academy is specifically designed to increase K-5 teachers’ knowledge of geometry in order to facilitate the teaching and learning of grade-level geometrical concepts. All teachers participate in a five day summer academy as well as four additional evening enrichment opportunities throughout the school year. The summer academy and subsequent follow up workshops include: selected professional readings, classroom implementation of hands-on instructional techniques, and a reflective processing journal. The academy facilitator provides classroom support on a regular basis through: modeling, guided instruction, coaching, gathering student assessment information, and assisting in planning. REEL Academy |
Reaching Every Early Learner (REEL) is a collaborative learning experience. This experience provides teachers in grades K-3 with opportunities to increase content knowledge to support early literacy, to discover additional ways to engage students through the use of CRISS strategies, to utilize assessment data for differentiation of instruction, and to establish a professional portfolio.
This 2-3 year academy will help participants build knowledge in the areas of phonological awareness, word analysis, spelling, systematic phonics instruction, comprehension, reading fluency, and writing using a balanced literacy framework. Teachers in the academy will design a learning plan for years 2-3 that will help them develop skills through professional development, implement new strategies, and extend learning through observations of peers during planned collegial visits. Writing in the 21st Century Academy |
| The Writing in the 21st Century Academy offers the opportunity for collaborative study of best practices in writing instruction and incorporates a comprehensive model of quality writing instruction for 21st century learners. Teachers will utilize 21st century tools to engage students in the communication process. This study focuses on high-quality, sustained professional development and provides teachers with the knowledge, support, and materials to improve their teaching and positively impact their students’ achievement.
