Wow Your Students with Wikis

A wiki is a website or similar online resource which allows users to add and edit content collectively. “Wiki wiki” means "rapidly" in the Hawaiian language. The most well known wiki is Wikipedia at www.wikipedia.org

Wikis can be used as web pages, collaborative work spaces, and portfolios. They can also be used as a classroom text, study guide, or a classroom FAQ document. Remember the old saying, “Two heads are better than one.” What if, instead of each student having their own study guide, all the students in your class contributed to part of one study guide, and students could improve upon what other students wrote to make it even better. Can you think of other ways you could use a wiki?
