Welcome! I am so proud to be a teacher in this amazing school and community.

I'm originally from England, and have lived in Tucson since 1998 when my husband and I immigrated to the USA for his job. We quickly decided to stay in Tucson, and love the climate and relaxed lifestyle. We have three children, one high schooler who attends school here in the Amphitheater School District, and two studying Biology at the University of Arizona. In my spare time I like to read, paint, and sew. 

I have been a teacher at Mesa Verde since 2014, and love teaching third grade. Children at this age are learning so much, but are still so much fun.

Defining Moment in My Education
I came to teaching as a second career after previously working in mental health. As a volunteer in my children's classrooms, I was inspired by so many creative and motivating teachers and I knew I wanted to be a part of that profession. I began as a substitute teacher, but quickly realized that I wanted to be in the classroom full-time, so I enrolled in the Post-Bac program to get my teaching certificate. Teaching is what I love doing. Even as it challenges me every day, it is so incredibly rewarding.

Core Educational Beliefs
I believe in providing a supportive environment where every child can learn to their greatest potential, and I strive to provide interesting and challenging opportunities for learning. While education is about gaining knowledge, I also believe that it is about growing as an individual. I emphasize personal characteristics like responsibility and independence a lot throughout the year.

Why Mesa Verde?
After taking several placements at Mesa Verde as a student teacher, I knew that it was a place that I wanted to work. It has the feel of a small, community school while still having high expectations for its students.
