Mrs. Rachel Oldaker

Hello and welcome!

I am Rachel Oldaker, Mesa Verde's librarian.  This will be my 7th year at Mesa Verde. This little school holds a special place in my heart and has been a big part of my family's history.  My children both attended school here and I went to school here in 4th and 5th grade. Although my mom did not go to school here, she was a bus driver for this school for several years.  Once a Mountain Lion, always a Mountain Lion!

My background is in healthcare.  Before I had kids, I worked as a medical assistant in a family practice clinic and as a certified caregiver.  I loved serving others, but decided to take a break to raise my kiddos.  I started volunteering at my daughter's preschool and I was there so much that the director jokingly said; "you should be on payroll,"  Not long after, I was on payroll!  I worked in pre-school and kindergarten as a teaching assistant for several years and then followed my children to Mesa Verde.  For the first four years of my career at Mesa Verde, I worked as the Behavior Intervention Monitor.  This position was precious to me. I am so thankful for everything the students here have taught me and I am always putting those lessons to use in the library!  I am passionate about children's literature and reading and I am so excited to be a scout for our students during their reading adventures and exploration. I'm looking forward to digging into many good books with our Mountain Lions!
