Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Jim Buckwalter

I've been a teacher for over 30 years. I started my career in the Chicago area, teaching middle school Social Studies, English and Science. I moved to Seattle in 1992, living and teaching there until I moved to Arizona in the summer of 2018. Nash is the first Arizona school I've worked in and this is my second year teaching fifth grade. I've taught grades 3-8. Some of my hobbies include tennis, bicycle riding and gardening/landscaping. I also love going to movies and reading books, as well as reading the on-line versions of newspapers. I think it's important to teach students to be critical thinkers and to question things they read and hear about. I especially like teaching math, even though I didn't like the way math was taught to me. I enjoy my class at Nash and I like working with the staff here.
