Mrs. Kristen Alvarez
Welcome
My name is Kristen Alvarez and I am a Reading Interventionist at Nash Elementary! I love working with kids on reading because I enjoy seeing the tremendous growth they achieve during the year! My husband and I have 2 kids who attend Mesa Verde School and Cross Middle School and 2 dogs named Slugger and Griffey. I love to watch my kids play sports on the weekends and hang out with my family!
Defining Moment in my Education
I knew in 5th grade that I was going to be a teacher! I had the most amazing teacher at Sopori Elementary School, Mrs. Lichtenwalter. She always had great lessons planned for us everyday and I knew that I wanted to be just like her.
Core Educational Belief
I believe that all children can learn! I believe I am here to inspire each child to love and be excited about school. All children should be given the opportunity to learn how to be a more caring, fair, respectful, responsible, trustworthy and a good citizen. Along with these qualities and a love for learning, the possibilities are endless!
Prior Experience
This is my 16th year teaching. I taught First grade after college in 2004 for 4 years. Then, kindergarten for the next 4 years. In 2012, my family and I moved to Kailua, Hawaii where I taught 1st grade for 3 years. We moved back home and I started here at Nash in Kindergarten for 3 years and recently moved to the Interventionist position.
