Welcome

I am a 4th grade teacher at Nash Elementary. In my classroom, I strive to create an atmosphere that facilitates risk-taking and learning. I facilitate, motivate, support, monitor, and encourage learning.

Defining Moment in my Education

I have known that I wanted to become a teacher since I was about five years old.

Core Educational Belief

I believe that students must take an active role in their learning. We learn by doing; by interacting with materials and ideas. Learning is an individual and personal process which takes time: the amount of time differs from learner to learner. I believe that the parents/guardians of my students and I are partners in a mutual endeavor: the education of the child. The key to our success is communication. Parents have the right and responsibility to look out for their child's best interests and communicate with me regarding the needs of the child. I believe that the best way for a parent to help his/her child is to spend a few minutes a day simply talking and listening to him or her. Remember, we learn by watching others and by doing. I believe parents are the child's best role model. I believe parents should read daily with their children and talk about reading, as well as giving them meaningful opportunities to write: letters, recipes, shopping lists, notes, etc. Sharing the the enjoyment of literacy with one's children will make them successful.
