Mrs. Brittney Gradillas

Hello, my name is Brittney Gradillas. I was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona which makes me a born Arizona Wildcat fan. BEAR DOWN! I am very excited to be servicing 4th and 5th grade ELD students. We will work on reading, writing, grammar, listening and speaking.

Prior Experience

I discovered my love for teaching when I became a swimming coach and instructor in high school. I taught swimming lessons to children and adults of all ages for almost 10 years.

I taught fourth grade for 11 years.

I also taught reading intervention for 3 years before moving to ELD.

Why I am committed to Prince

I began my teaching career at Prince and have never left. I feel as if Prince is my home away from home. I feel safe and very supported by my colleagues and the rest of the Prince community. They are my second family.

Defining Moment in my Education

I always loved being in school. I loved my friends, and I loved my teachers. However; I was a student who was considered a "late bloomer" and I especially struggled with math. I remember hours of crying with my parents over long-division worksheets. It was not until the 5th grade that I had a teacher who noticed how challenging math was for me. He took the time to get know me and my family. He provided us with practice strategies, so that we could practice productively at home. He spent extra class time with me, so that I could over come my battles with math. To this day, I maintain a positive relationship with that teacher. He impacted my life in an incredible way, and I knew that I wanted to be able to do the same for other students.

Core Educational Beliefs

I believe in creating a safe and positive learning environment that challenges children to take risks and grow into productive members of society.
