Mrs. Pamela Barrett
Hafa Adai and welcome to Second Grade! My name is Pamela Barrett and I am originally from the beautiful island of Guam. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Guam and received my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University (Portland, Oregon). This is my 6th year at Innovation Academy and my 16th year of teaching in both early childhood/primary grades and intermediate grades. I love my career! In "my former life", I was also in the Army Reserve Officer's Training Program (ROTC) while attending UOG and joined the U.S. Army the day after graduation. It was such an exciting and humbling adventure! I eventually became a Captain in the Medical Service Corps and served four years on active duty. I was stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia as an ambulance platoon leader, treatment platoon leader, and battalion adjutant. I later served as an executive officer for a Forward Surgical Team in Yongsan, Korea. I have been married to my husband Chris for 24 years. We have four amazing children, Taylor (college-NAU), Jayden (senior-IRHS), Payton (freshman-IRHS), and Grayson (6th grade-Cross). We also have an 11-year-old miniature schnauzer dog named Jazzy. I've experienced the cultures of many places and am happy to call the Southwest my home! We love Arizona! I enjoy spending time with family, going to new places, Marvel things (especially Ironman), hiking, camping, watching movies, exploring new ideas for my class, staying active, and eating (especially dessert)!
