Mrs. Talbert

Welcome!

I am so thrilled to be your child’s First Grade Teacher this year! This will be my 9th year teaching. I took some time off to stay home with my three children. Before that, I taught grades 2nd, 4th, 1st and middle school math. I attended ASU for both my degrees. I have a B.A. in Elementary Education and a M.A. in Instructional Technology. I have been recognized by Sun Lakes Rotatory as Teacher of the Month. I was also recognized by the City of Chandler at the Celebration of Unity for my Dedication to Service in Education.  Currently, I am focused on a two-year training program called, LETRS, "Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling". I am thrilled to be a part of this program and am very excited about anything related to the "Science of Reading" philosophy. I’ve always known that I wanted to teach and love working with kids. The students mean everything to me and watching them grow academically, socially and emotionally is such a privilege. I’m looking forward to an incredible school year!

About me

I am an Arizona native and grew up in Chandler. CUSD is where I attended school and taught for 8 years. I moved to Oro Valley when my husband accepted a job as an F-16 pilot in the Air National Guard in Tucson. When we moved to Oro Valley we were also expecting our first child, Aaron. I became a stay-at-home mom and traveled the world with my family. My husband trained pilots in both Morocco and Poland. We love traveling and are grateful for our time in those countries. We have three kids; Aaron, Deanie and Henry, who all attend Innovation Academy.
