Mrs. Margie Hervert
Welcome Message
Welcome to Mrs. Hervert’s 2nd grade classroom! Room 15 is upstairs, overlooking the beautiful Catalina Mountains. I have been teaching at Rio Vista since its doors opened. Wow, time flies when you’re having fun! I love adventure, outdoors, and life in the classroom. I encourage my students to challenge themselves and try new ideas.
Defining Moment in Education
My mom is Japanese. When I started school, my mom made sure I sat down and did my homework neatly and completely. However, she didn’t have the language skills to be able to help me with school work. I had to learn to do it myself, and I had to help my two younger brothers with their work. I guess I was a teacher from the time I began school!
Core Educational Belief
Rio Vista School is part of the “No Excuses University” network. I believe in this philosophy. I believe that every child deserves the opportunity to be highly educated to be prepare for college and career. It is this culture of belief that students know they need to work hard to achieve. They set goals, evaluate themselves, and see personal growth. They become self-motivated in their learning. When I ask my students, “Where are you going?”, I want to hear, “I’m going to college!”
