Welcome Message

Hello, and welcome to Reading Intervention. I am Shelby Davis, and I am very excited to be returning to Rio Vista, this time as a teacher. I attended Rio Vista as a student from 1993-1999. I then went to La Cima for middle school, Salpointe for high school, and attended college at Northern Arizona University. I love my job and am very excited to work with your child!

Defining Moment in Education

I remember before I was even a teacher, I was working with a kindergarten student who was learning to read. I wanted her to understand that when she read a comma, she needed to pause. It took about 8 weeks, but she finally got it. I was so proud of her, and knew that teaching was something I was really going to enjoy, because I could help kids learn.

Core Educational Belief

I believe education is one of the most important things a person can have. Everybody deserves a great education. I especially believe that the ability to not just read, but read with confidence can improve a person’s life.

Prior Experience

I worked as a Montessori teacher for four years, two of which were in preschool, while the other two were in elementary. I spent three years as the Reading Intervention teacher at La Cima Middle School.
