Defining Moment in Education
I grew up in a teaching family. My dad taught Industrial Arts, and my mom taught 3rd grade. My older sister has a PE degree, and my two younger sisters teach 1st and 4th grades. My husband is a retired CTE teacher, and now teaches adults at Pima Community College. My son is a 4th grade teacher and just finished his Masters to become a principal. My daugher teaches Kindergarten in Mesa, Arizona. Teaching and working with children is my life-long passion.
Core Educational Belief
I believe learning should be fun and hands-on. I make lessons relevant and challenging for all students. I really love to see when a child understands a new concept. I tell the students when we make a mistake, we try again, because we are learning. I have an open line of communication with all my parents.
I have been teaching for 38 years. I taught kindergarten for 8 years on the Navajo Indian Reservation, in Chinle, Arizona, and 30 years here at Rio Vista. I could not think of a better profession!
