Welcome Message

Welcome to K-5 grade ELD classes at Painted Sky Elementary in beautiful Oro Valley, AZ! I am completely thrilled to be your teacher! I have been teaching for 23 years in all grades from Kindergarten to 12th grade! As part of our collective community at Amphi, I help provide a safe, kind, nurturing, and happy space to grow and learn English language proficiency skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking. My husband and I moved from Chicago to Phoenix 30 years ago. We've lived in Tucson for 10 years and couldn't imagine living anywhere else. We enjoy all the outdoor activities Tucson has to offer!

Defining Moment in Education

I've had many defining moments in education. From the moment I first stepped into Jungman Elementary, one of Chicago Public Schools, as a child, I loved everything about it. I only spoke Spanish at the time, therefore, I relied on my observations. I saw kind people happily working together. The principal, office personnel, teachers, cafeteria staff, building custodians and bus drivers, everyone made sure that the students were cared for in a safe environment while providing an education. I was hooked! I made up my mind that when I grew up, I would one day be a part of it!

Given the proper resources, anyone can achieve their educational goals as long as everyone does their part.

Prior Experience

I started my teaching career in Gilbert, AZ in 2000 as an ELL teacher. Since moving to Tucson, I have taught grades 2nd, 4th and ELD classes in grades K-12 at Amphitheater Public Schools.
