Hello! This is my seventh year teaching at La Cima and my fourth year teaching Science (I used to be a Math teacher). I was a substitute teacher for 7 years prior to going back to school for my certification. I am thrilled to be back at La Cima this year.
Defining Moment in Education
I have always loved learning. I like being challenged and solving problems. I have had many teachers over the years that made me think I should become a teacher, but it wasn’t until I was finished with college (with a degree in Anthropology) that I realized finding a job in my field held no interest for me. What did I do? I became a substitute teacher. It made perfect sense, and was decided practically before I thought about it. After years of subbing (and being a nanny) I decided it was time to do it for real. I went to Pima and signed up for their program, and 18 months later I was a certified teacher. When I think about what I would do with my life other than teach, there is no answer. I was meant to be a teacher.
Core Educational Belief
I believe that education is the most important thing in the world. Nothing matters more than learning. All types of learning and all different subjects and disciplines. There is no one that does not have the ability to learn and grow, and there is no such thing as too much knowledge. It doesn’t matter how old or how young you may be, it is always a good time to learn something new.
