First Grade utilizes a standards-based report card. Not every standard is assessed and graded on the report card every quarter. When you receive your child's report card, please review it with your child, sign and return the envelope.  You may keep the report card.  For a complete list of the Arizona State College and Readiness Standards, please visit the Arizona Department of Education Website. The following is a brief synopsis of the markings used on the first grade report card in the Amphitheater Public Schools.

    Grade Level Proficiency:

      • 1 = Making limited progress towards mastery of grade level standards taught during the quarter.  The student is below the level expected for the current reporting period.  Improvement is needed.
      • 2 = Making expected progress towards mastering the grade level standards taught during the quarter.
The student is at the level expected for the current quarter.
      • 3 = Meeting end of year grade level standards for the reported quarter only, based on the work/skills taught that quarter.
      • 4 = Exceeding the end of the year standard/s/.  Your child is working at a grade level above their current grade level.  They have demonstrated that they can significantly exceed the end of the year standards/skills/concepts on a consistent basis.

NOTE:  Quarterly rubrics are used to determine quarterly standard grade.

Work/Ethic/Social Development Skills Are Graded As Follows:

                - S = Satisfactory (Consistently).    Your child's work/ethic/social development is satisfactory.

                - N = Needs Improvement (Often).  Your child needs improvement in this area.

                - U = Unsatisfactory (Seldom).  Your child is performing considerably below what is expected of a first/second grade child.

NOTE:  Daily assignments and tests will be marked with stamps, comments and/or percent correct.  Children will not receive specific letter grades in first grade.
