Ms. Monet Richards
Let Me Introduce Myself
My name is Monet Richards. I teach (and LOVE) fifth grade!
I grew up in Tucson going to Amphitheater schools, and was even a Walker student myself. I love the community and the support system that this school has given me throughout the years and I have always known that it would be my teacher home!
I have one very handsome cat named Juno, and spend my weekends and summers painting or reading a good book. I can't wait to have an amazing year full of learning and growth with my Walker family.
Prior experience
I began my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 2016 and graduated in 2020 from Northern Arizona University. I spent all of my practicum and student teaching placements in the Amphitheater district, three semesters of which were at Walker! I began teaching fifth grade at Lulu Walker in 2020.
Defining Moment in Education
When I was 10 years old my fifth grade teacher at Walker told me that I would make a great teacher one day. Little did she know, I would think back to that moment for years to come.
Over the years, I have had countless teachers make similar positive impacts in my life. I am so thankful for the teachers who became my role models, who challenged me and allowed me to confide in them and for teachers that made school my safe place.I feel so proud to follow in their footsteps.
Core Educational Beliefs
I believe that all students can learn and all students can be successful as long as they are given the opportunity and support needed to do so. I also believe that students learn best when they feel safe. It is my goal to provide students with an environment and mindset that is focused on growth, is collaborative, and that supports all students in being critical thinkers, lifelong learners, and successful school community members.
