Canyon del Oro High School has a 54-year long reputation of providing students with an excellent educational foundation to prepare them for post-secondary opportunities. The campus was built in 1962 and started as a middle school. CDO was founded as a public comprehensive 9-12 high school in 1964. The school is located in Oro Valley, Arizona, located 6 miles (9.7 km) north of Tucson at the base of Pusch Ridge. At one time, CDO had over 3000 students enrolled prior to the building of Ironwood Ridge High School in 2001.
