Defining Moment in My Education: Throughout high school, I aspired to be a social worker because I wanted to make the world a better place. I entered college as a social work major and was confident in my path until my sophomore Economics professor threw a wrench in my plans. He said, “If you really want to change the world, be a teacher.” That simple nudge had a profound effect on me.

Core Educational Beliefs: I believe that a high-quality education enables students to shape the future they want for themselves, and every student deserves that opportunity. I believe that the most important factor in a student’s classroom experience is the teacher, and a great school is one where all people, students and teachers alike, thrive.

Prior Experience: After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Georgia, I taught 7th grade English for two years as a Teach For America corps member in rural Mississippi. After moving to Tucson, I taught middle school English and high school English and American History for 7 years. I also worked for several years as a curriculum writer, an instructional coach, and a student support coordinator. I have a law degree from the University of Arizona College of Law and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. I am thrilled to be the newest member of CDO’s administrative team!
