About the Teacher
I grew up in Claremont, CA, which is about forty miles east of Los Angeles. I began playing trumpet in 5th grade. In high school, I played in the marching band, jazz band, concert band, and orchestra.
I studied music at Citrus College for six years. I continued my studies in trumpet, but also took classes in piano, guitar, and voice. I played in their nationally ranked Jazz Ensemble as well as their Concert Band, Jazz Combos, Dixieland Band, and Pop Band. The choral program at Citrus is well known in the L.A. area and internationally. There, I took voice lessons, dance, and drama.
I completed my Bachelor's Degree in Music Education at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ in December of '98. During my whole education, I was able to make five albums and tour through the United States, Europe, and China.
I have been teaching elementary music and choir at Wilson K-8 since August of '99 and will again be teaching elementary orchestra This year, I will be teaching band at Mesa Verde Elementary. At Wilson, I have also taught 6th Grade Drama, 6th Grade Choir, & Beginning Orchestra. I taught elementary band at Walker Elementary from '00-'14. Besides teaching, I occasionally perform in the area. I have been a featured singer with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, sang with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra Chorus for two seasons, and sang with Arizona Opera for a season. I have been a worship leader at my church for quite a number of years. I teach voice, trumpet, and beginning guitar privately.
