Hello Wilson Wranglers. I am entering my 17th year as a teacher at Wilson and had a 3 year stint as the Dean of Students and 21st Century Grant Coordinator at Marana Middle School. That's 20 years of middle school experience. Am I crazy for loving it? Probably. Over the years, I have taught the core subjects of social studies, math, and language arts. And electives including teen court, living skills, leadership, and career explorations. I am proud to be a Wrangler and consider Wilson my home away from home.
A few facts about myself:
* My wife is also an Amphi emloyee and works at the district office as the Gifted Coordinator (we have been married for 20 years)
* My son is a student at Ironwood Ridge and my daughter is a student at Cross
* We have 5 dogs (Twinkle, Cupcake, Maisy, Millie, and Bear)
* I have travelled to 27 countries on 3 continents and 45 of the 50 states
* In my younger years I loved outdoor adventure sports (hang-gliding in the Swiss Alps was an awe-inspiring experience)
I believe:
* Effort + A Positive Attitude = Success
* It's all about skills! I use subject area content to teach skills like collaboration, communication, problem solving, and critical thinking
* Differentiation of learning and providing choices are key to student engagement and achievement
* In kindness and compassion towards all
