Mrs. Herron

Special Education Facilitator & LRC Teacher

Welcome!

Please make sure that the front office has all current parent/guardian email addresses and other contact information.

Who is Mrs. Herron?

I'm originally from the Chicago suburbs but I have moved quite a bit, landing in Colorado, California, and Georgia before finding my way to Arizona.

I have been teaching at Wilson since 2007.  My first position here was teaching 7th & 8th grade general education math.  I later transitioned to special education resource math and then moved into the Special Education Facilitator position.  I have a brother with special needs, so special education has been a part of my world, my entire life. I'm married to an Industrial Radiographer and we have one son who is currently a senior at NAU, studying chemistry.

Core Educational Belief

I believe that every student can succeed. As a teacher, it is my duty to help students gain the knowledge and skills that they will require to be active and productive citizens of our society. Teaching should be student-centered and students should be accountable for their learning and behavior as well as take responsibility for their decisions and actions.  As a teacher, I am responsible for facilitating my student’s pursuit for knowledge in order to help them acquire the skills necessary to be life-long learners. I believe students should learn to be independent, yet have the skills necessary to work cooperatively.  In addition, I believe that parents/guardians are crucial members of a students educational team and have a critical role in encouraging and supporting their child’s learning at home, in school, and throughout their community.
