Mrs. Susan Shoopman

It is an honor to be an Assistant Principal at Wilson K-8.  I have been a teacher here for the past six years and love being a Wrangler!

My family and I moved to Oro Valley in 2016 from Florida, and we love our beautiful community. My husband, Chad, is a professor at the University of Arizona, and we have an amazing daughter, Sophia.  We love spending time together and playing with our dog, Isabelle.

Defining Moment in Education

My defining moment in education is not one moment but many throughout my career.  When a student has an "aha" moment, when I see my students collaborate and are enthusiastic about learning, when a student surpasses his or her goal or makes more growth than expected, when I receive a kind note from a parent expressing appreciation, or when students help each other without being asked - These are all the defining moments that inspire me and remind me I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be.

Core Educational Beliefs

I believe that it is my responsibility to help my students succeed and that learning should be fun! I strive to make my classroom a place where students learn to love learning and are inspired to be their best.
