Kindergarten through 5th Grade
Into Reading is a research based, standards-aligned comprehensive ELA program that is designed to expand student background knowledge and vocabulary, promote critical thinking and discussion about narrative and non-fiction texts, and develop expression through discussion and writing tasks.
Kindergarten through 2nd Grade
K-2 Fundations provides an explicit, systematic and multi-sensory approach to teaching the alphabetic principal which is needed for students to read (decode) and spell (encode) with automaticity. When students master the alphabetic code, they use that knowledge to read words and create meaning and understanding from text. Conversely, when they spell, they are capturing the sounds they hear and form letters clearly and efficiently to write with automaticity. Building on this knowledge is how students develop a solid foundation in reading and writing.
Computer-Based Supplemental Resources
Waterford
Anchored in the science of learning, Waterford is an adaptive online computer program that kindergarten students progress through. Designed to develop foundational literacy skills, students receive explicit and systematic instruction. When skill proficiency is reached, learners then move ahead to the next level of instruction. Supportive feedback and targeted reteaching are provided as needed.
i-Ready
i-Ready Reading is a supplemental online program that helps 1-5 grade students become analytical readers. Students develop phonological, high-frequency words, phonics, vocabulary and comprehension strategies using rigorous narrative and informational texts. As students' progress, the lesson path adjusts to provide a personalized learning experience for each student. Three diagnostic assessments are administered per year.
