Mrs. Lisa Boyer
Welcome our 5th grade class at Wilson K-8 in beautiful Oro Valley, Arizona. I am looking forward to an amazing year! I have my B.A. in Psychology and my Master's Degree in Education with an emphasis in school counseling. I am a certified K-8 teacher and school counselor. This year will be my 26th year of teaching in the Amphitheater School District. I started my teaching career at Rio Vista Elementary teaching 4th grade and math intervention and then moved to Wilson in 2001.
I grew up in upstate New York and then moved to San Diego when I was in high school. After we got married I moved to Tucson with my husband Will. We have two beautiful daughters who attend Ironwood Ridge High School and The University of Arizona. I am a big U of A fan - Go Cats!
Defining Moment in Education
When I started college my major was accounting. I grew up with parents who were accountants and they ran a small accounting firm out of our house. Sophomore year of college I worked as a teacher's aide in a 4th grade classroom at Long Beach Unified School District. I loved the job so much and learned so much from the teacher that I decided to change my major. I have been working with kids ever since.
Core Beliefs
I believe that every student can be successful in my classroom. I know that it is important for me to help students reach their full potential and gain the skills needed to be successful in their daily lives and their future.
