I am extremely honored to be the Principal at Lulu Walker Elementary School and work with the amazing students, staff, and families that call this school home. Walker has a long tradition of academic and extracurricular success that is rooted in the relationships between students, staff, and parents. I look forward to working each day with students, staff, parents, and community members, as we strive to create a positive, safe, and challenging learning environment for all.
Defining Moment in Education
The defining moment for me occurred during my junior year of college. When I stopped swimming for the University of Arizona I was asked by my former club swim team coach to return to the team as an assistant coach. I soon realized that I loved developing relationships with kids and teaching them everything I knew about the sport. In addition, I found that I was often helping students with their homework before practice or when we traveled out of town for swim meets. These experiences made me realize that I wanted to continue to work with young people as a career. So I changed my major to Science Education and have never regretted it.
Core Educational Beliefs
I believe that all students can be successful academically and socially, given the opportunity. It is my responsibility as an educator to create an environment in which students are presented with challenging instruction that is aligned with their interests and meets their needs. I believe that school should be a safe and welcoming environment, where students can come and learn in the manner that best meets their needs.
