Denny Williams – Science Teacher Cross Middle School

Mr. Denny Williams has been with the district since 1994 as a teacher at Cross Middle School. He has served as 8th grade science teacher, wrestling coach, and is currently the school’s athletic director.

Mr. Williams is a very popular and well-respected teacher on the Cross campus. He makes science come alive in his classroom by using engaging, hands-on experiments and creative projects, such as animal dissections, jet car competitions, and the rocket project. He takes pride in his preparation and is always ready for instruction when his students walk into his classroom.

Mr. Williams is a man of integrity, a professional educator, is passionate about his curriculum, and a loyal employee who goes above and beyond in all his duties. He's like the energizer bunny with a smile on his face each and every day, and a day would not be complete without the voice of Mr. Williams on the morning announcements. As he stated, a teacher’s legacy is not in the awards, trophy, plaque, or certificate they receive, but the legacy is in the lives of the students they impact each day.

Rosie Slack – Custodian III, IRHS

Ms. Rosie Slack has worked as a custodian in the district since 2003. She currently serves as the lead custodian at Ironwood Ridge High School.  Rosie demonstrates excellence in everything she does and she goes above and beyond in her job to make sure that she and her crew creates a clean and safe environment for learning.

If you know Rosie, you quickly understand that working at Ironwood Ridge isn’t just a job for her; she is passionate about what she does and cares about all of the students, teachers, and staff members. She has high expectations for herself and she ensures that the custodial department does everything they can to make “Our House” a great place.

Rosie expressed her appreciation for being nominated and for someone “seeing something in me that I didn’t see in myself.” She said “the greatest reward is to have the opportunity to help others and the Nighthawk family.”
