Attendance Matters
Regular school attendance is essential for your child's academic success and overall development. Attending school helps students keep up with their coursework, connect with teachers and friends and find opportunities fo develop new interests and ideas.
Here's a little more info about why attendance matters:
• Academic Achievement: Students who attend school consistently are more likely to stay on track with assignments, participate in class discussions, and grasp important concepts. Frequent absences can lead to gaps in knowledge, making it difficult to catch up.
• Social Skill Development: School isn’t just about academics—it’s also a place where students develop social skills, build relationships and learn teamwork. Regular attendance helps foster a sense of belonging and strengthens connections with peers and teachers.
• Future Success: Studies show that students with good attendance records are more likely to graduate from high school and pursue higher education or career opportunities. Establishing good attendance habits early on prepares students for success in adulthood.
• Community Support: When students attend school consistently, it builds a stronger, more engaged community. Families, teachers, and staff can work together to ensure that students feel supported and motivated to attend each day.
To help families and students keep an eye on their attendance, we developed an Attendance Tracker. If you didn't receive a tracker, please download and print it from the file below.
