Mrs. Jessica Rodriguez Perez (left) – Student Family Advocate, La Cima Middle School

Mrs. Jessica Rodriguez Perez started her career in the Amphitheater School District in 2005, where she worked as an attendance clerk and the Assistant to the Principal at Nash Elementary School. In 2010, she became the Student Family Advocate for Walker Elementary School and La Cima Middle School, splitting her time between both campuses. For the past six years, she has been full-time at La Cima, and has become an integral part of the school community.

When you visit La Cima, you will see Mrs. Rodriguez regularly outfitting students in the clothing bank and distributing school supplies to students in need. She identifies students living in extreme poverty who need food to get through the weekend and then delivers “Snack Packs” to them as part of St. Andrew’s Haven Totes program. She makes student’s medical appointments to get glasses or physicals, which are funded by the local Lions Club, and she visits homes to check on students who have been chronically absent.

Mrs. Rodriguez says that her goal is to connect with students each day. She feels it is her responsibility to look out for them and ensure that they have the support they need to be successful at La Cima.

Mrs. Kris Holt (right) – 3rd Grade Teacher, Prince Elementary School

Mrs. Kris Holt has taught 3rd grade at Prince Elementary for the past 18 years. In 2007, Mrs. Holt was selected as a Rodel Exemplary Teacher by the Rodel Foundation of Arizona, which is a highly competitive award.

Helping teachers of all skill levels grow is one of Mrs. Holt’s passions. In fact, during her time at Prince, she has mentored 19 student teachers, as well as advised many of her colleagues. Mrs. Holt treats all Prince kids as her own, and she believes that she is responsible for every single one of them – not just the ones in her class. She truly believes in the “No Excuses University” mindset. She believes that all students deserve an education that prepares them for college.

Mrs. Holt is a teacher that students remember and they cherish the time they spend with her. It is not unusual to see students that were in her class many years ago stop in to thank her and give her a hug. Mrs. Holt is the Pride of Amphi.
