• Middle School Education
    in the Amphitheater District

  • Middle school education in the Amphitheater District is designed to build on the foundational skills developed in earlier grades while introducing more advanced academic concepts in areas such as reading, writing, math, science and social studies.

Middle schools also place a strong emphasis on fostering social development and personal growth as students navigate the transition to adolescence. Along with academics, middle school students are encouraged to explore their interests through extracurricular activities, including athletics and student clubs, helping them develop teamwork, leadership and time-management skills.

Programs like AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) play a key role in preparing middle school students for long-term academic success by enhancing their organizational, study, and critical thinking abilities. AVID supports student engagement through collaborative learning and goal setting, equipping students with the tools they need to succeed in high school and beyond.

Additionally, our schools use a personalized learning approach to customize educational experiences based on each student’s individual needs. By utilizing data and technology, personalization creates individualized learning paths that allow students to progress at their own pace, ensuring targeted support where necessary.

One more thing to note: Our middle schools offer students who qualify to get a jump start on high school by taking high school classes.

  • Electives

Our middle schools give students a chance to choose electives that spark their curiosity and explore their interests. Students can choose from creative arts like band, choir, and visual art. Schools also offer electives such as physical education, computer science and Spanish. To review electives at particular schools, please visit their web pages linked below. With options that cater to both academic and personal growth, our electives provide a well-rounded middle school experience that helps students discover their passions and prepare for future learning.

  • Athletics

Our middle schools offer athletics programs designed to meet the interests and talents of all students. With options ranging from traditional team sports like football, basketball, baseball, softball and soccer, to individual pursuits such as track and field and tennis, there’s something for everyone. Participating in athletics fosters teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship -- important qualities for our children to develop. • Clubs

Middle schoolers in Amphitheater schools have the opportunity to join clubs as a way of making friends and developing important skills and qualities, such as collaboration, leadership and citizenship. Research shows that students who are involved in activities at school get better grades, have better attendance and go on to have quality experiences in high school. We encourage our students to find -- or help create -- clubs that meet their interests. To learn more about clubs available at each of our schools, please visit the websites, linked below.
